Homes on steep, sloped and difficult sites around Gordon's Bay, Somerset West and the Helderberg. And every straightforward build in between.
The slope
Every extra degree of fall changes the way a house has to be built. Here's what happens under the floor as a plot gets steeper, and where the cost stops being about the house and starts being about the ground.
Who we are
We're a fully registered residential building contractor based in Gordon's Bay and building right across the Helderberg, with over fifty years of collective experience behind us, from our director, Davon Arendse, through our project managers to the specialised teams on the ground. Davon owns it outright, and he is on the sites rather than behind a desk. Most of our work is new homes, on ground of every kind. The mountain sites are what we're known for. The straightforward ones are just as welcome, and priced like it.
Steep ground asks for more before it gives you anything. The access, the excavation, getting a solid footing into the rock. This is exactly the work we've built our name on. The flat, easy sites are just as welcome, and they get the same attention.
What we do
We handle the whole build. If you'd rather bring us in for one part of it, that's fine too.

Our projects
Three we're proud of. Every one of them was its own puzzle, and that's the part we enjoy.

Every one of our Google reviews is a five star. These are three of them, quoted as they were written. Read the rest on Google →
I received the details by word of mouth as my previous experience was not good. I am happy and a satisfied client. The communication was good, my expectations were managed and the end result was great! I will continue to use African Eagle Projects moving forward and recommend them. Very satisfied client.
From the start of our bathroom renovation it was evident that Davon, his father, and the team take great pride in their work. The workmanship was also of a very good quality and the renovation completed on time. I can confidently recommend AE Projects for any bathroom renovation based on our experience.
What I appreciated most was how they worked with us to achieve the look we wanted while also keeping our budget in mind. They really go the extra mile to cater to your needs, both aesthetically and financially. The quality of the workmanship speaks for itself, and the entire experience was smooth and professional.

A steep site does cost more than a flat one, and it should. The access, the cut, the retaining and the structure underneath are all real work, and all of it has to be paid for. What it should not carry on top is a guess. We price that work from having done it, so you get a real number with a real programme against it, before anything starts.
